Tzevat TEFIK was born in Komotini, Greece on October 25, 1979. He completed his secondary education at Komotini 2. High School. He graduated from Istanbul University, Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, Uğur Derman Department of English Medicine in 2004.

After completing his urology specialty training at Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Department of Urology in 2011, he continued to work as a specialist doctor at Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Department of Urology between 2011-2017. He received his associate professorship in 2017. He was appointed as Professor at Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Department of Urology on 14 March 2024.

Tzevat TEFİK is a member of important urological associations such as American Urological Association, European Association of Urology, Endourological Society, European Section of Endourology and also a founding member of Kidney Stone Academy and Progress in Endourology Training and Research Association.

He has published over seventy five international articles and over 290 national and international papers. His Google Scholar H-index is 21, WOS H-index is 14 and his articles have been cited more than 1150 times until January 2025. He is an associate editor of the Journal of Istanbul Faculty of Medicine and academic editor of PLOS One and BMC Urology.

He completed his training in flexible ureterorenoscopy at Sorborne University in Paris in 2015 under the supervision of Professor Oivier Traxer. Tzevat TEFIK, who has extensive surgical experience, has personally performed or participated in over 5500 genitourinary surgical procedures since 2011 when he became a urologists.

He is currently working as Professor at the Department of Urology at Istanbul Faculty of Medicine. He is married and has one child.
